PCB recommends 'severe sanctions' to address corruption in sports

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB) recommends strict sanctions against the corruption in order to main the integrity of the game and integrity of Pakistan. To support the government around legislation required to criminalize corruption in Sports.

PSL SCANDAL: "The PCB or Pakistan has faced a difficult time due to corruption in sports.The country was once again at the receiving end during Pakistan Super League (PSL). When a number of Players were banned and fined for breaching the code of conduct. Few players were found guilty but that was still a mystery when they did this act in which match did spot fixing is still unsolved mystery.

Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Shahzaib Hasan and Nasir Jamshed was found guilty some other players were also suspend for not complain against the offer they get form bookies but they didn't found guilty of Fixing.

The commission of Justice Malik Muhammad Qayyum in 2000 recommended that Government should look at the gambling in the sports. But his advice wasn't take seriously and no legislation had been made for the corruption. Pakistan continues to face embarrassment when in 2010 at England tour there was a massive Spot-Fixing scandal emerge. In Which Three of Pakistan's top class player found guilty. Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif & Salman Butt.

Now the PCB had proposed severe sanctions to tackle the Corruption. illegal manipulation, spot-match fixing, batting as well as aiding and abetting such conduct and has proposed penalties to be imposed if found guilty.Mani (Chairman-PCB) added.

The PCB claims to be involved in a battle for corruption with Umar Akmal and has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against an independent judge's decision to halve a 36-month sanction for Umar Akmal for failing to report corrupt approaches in two unrelated incidents.

“PCBs take anti-corruption cases very seriously and maintain a zero-tolerance approach.

The PCB is not proud of a cricketer of Umar's standard who was banned for corruption, but as a trusted and respectable institution, we need to send a sleepy and clear message to all our partners. Sympathy to anyone who violates the rules".

Though the law makers of PCB also have a very bad image as people also said the appointment in the PCB were also not on the merit.
